The Internet Lover Challenge - The Sims 2

 The Way Back machine is being turned WAAAAAY back for this challenge!  The Internet Lover Challenge was written in 2006 for The Sims 2. So what was the game like in 2006?  Well only we only had the base game, University, Nightlife, and a Holiday Party pack.  I considered using Numenor's Any Game Starter mod to get only those to load, but after reading all the problems others had with it, I decided to remove the mods folder out of the game instead, and play per status quo. So here we go!

The premise of the Internet Lover Challenge is a the Challenge Sim only communicating over the computer for a lover.  No phone, no talking to Sims who walk by.  The challenge ends when the love seeking Sim invites his/her Internet Lover over for a face to face meeting and falls in love right away, both pink hearts and red hearts at the same time.  Seems simple!

Let's play The Sims 2!

The Challenge states of course no hacks.  The Sim  can be any aspiration, zodiac, what ever.  I chose to let Alexa give me a random number to get the Sim sex and facial template.  Then I chose base game make up and clothes....yes, I have default replacements for hair and clothes.  I wasn't going to take that out.  hehe  Taking out all the mods was the best I would do.

 Here is where Mazikeen Smith lives in Strangetown.

Mazikeen Smith - Knowledge. Zodiac - Cancer.  Wants to become the City Planner there in Strangetown. 

My strategy:  A Shy Cancer and Knowledge Sim might be happy spending lots of time on the computer.  However Maze threw a wish for a skill right away, so chose money making painting since she couldn't go out and get a job.  She painted until Mr. Humble delivered her computer.

These characters came by to welcome her to the neighborhood.  Too bad she couldn't go out to meet them.  They stood around for a while and left.

And so it begins!  She met Edward Fuchs right away.  He seemed like a chatty fellow. Chatted all day, painted a little, ate and showered, went to bed. 

Day One End

That's it.  He is the only one she met.  There were more that logged on, but felt best to stick with one Sim.

Day two Maze didn't even change out of her pajamas.  She chatted and emailed all day, and actually sold a painting for $4.

Day Two End

Edward logged on a couple of times, as did Lazlo.  We have a straggler there, Cooper Olfshki. They didn't even chat enough to get any relationship points.

Day three Mazikeen is starting to think about Edward. He didn't sign on at all to chat, so the name of the game was emailing all day long

Woah what is this?

Edward is starting to toss the "I am being ignored" messages.  Why?

Because Maze continually refuses his offers to come over.  Let's look at things as of the end of day four.  (Somehow ASimWen missed getting a relationship panel pic after day three.)

Day Four End

She and Eddie are friends, yet she doesn't want him to come over. Need to add a few more relationship points. Her relationship with Lazlo isn't bad either!  Need to keep one in the hip pocket just in case the first one doesn't work out.

Day Five End

On Friday neither Edward or Lazlo logged on, but Pascal did.  And she met Balin the wolf when paying the bills.  At any rate, she started chatting up Pascal.  Her relationship went up with Edward due to emailing.

This guy continually walks by the house, several times a day.  Probably a good match for Mazikeen.  He needs to logon for chat.  His name is Daryl.

Day Six End

Lazlo signed on for chat.  Things went well!  She had targeted Edward then realized he is a teen-ager!

So, Maze pressed onward.

Day Seven End

Pascal signed into chat!  Looks like it is going to be a contest between Lazlo and Pascal! Plus - Maze got into My Muse!

Being a Knowledge Sim, Mazikeen gains skill points from painting as well, giving her aspiration.  Being that the Challenge forbids the challenge Sim from speaking to anyone before meeting his/her Internet Lover face to face the first time, Maze does not turn around and formally accept the membership.

Day Eight End

Neither Curious brother signed onto chat.  So it was emailing all day.  The computer continually broke down after several hours of chatting/emailing but luckily Mazikeen realized tinkering was her one true hobby, and found the repairing to be easy.

Even though he was not avialable for chat, Pascal did come waddling by the house hoping to tip the scales in his favor.  He rang Mazikeen's doorbell while she was sitting inside emailing his brother.  Sorry Pascal...you need to communicate over the computer.

He finally decided Maze wasn't going to invite him inside, so he walked around to the back door, came in, and left through the front door.  He couldn't get any more obvious than that.

Mazikeen gets into Sue's Kitchen from studying cooking.  Nice to get those aspiraiton points, means she can take hits on the energizer to keep going 24/7.

Day nine dawns with Maze realizing she may have to start chatting with someone other than the Curious boys.  THEN...not to be shown up by his brother Pascal.....
 

Lazlo pays in impromptu visit to Maze.

To use her bathroom.....

Then it was time for a little dinner.  YUMMY!!!!!

Then a little sports was in order.  Go you, Lazlo!  You sure know the way to a girl's heart.

Then it was back inside to pee again....not flushing...at all...ewwww.

Then it was on to warming the hands up in hot water and breaking the sink.  At this point, it was one more snack out of the trash, then he went home.  No explanation except saying he thought he better go home.  Ha.  Love the comedy in this game!

Day Nine End

Vidcund joined the race to Mazikeen's heart by logging on to chat.  It won't be long now!

Vidcund may have made a grievous error here.   Instead of sneaking over and showing off like his brothers, he just chose to complain.  OOohhh.....

Day Ten End

 The day was pretty dry without any chatting from the brothers until evening, then Lazlo logged in.  The scores are heading up!  I wonder who will win her heart?

 Finally on the morning of day 11, Mazikeen's friendship score with Lazlo reached 100/72, and she invited him when he logged on to chat.

A little sweet talk thrown his way, and the two fell hopelessly in love.  Oh yeah.  Sorry Pascal, your lifetime friendship number just didn't move fast enough, and Vidcund, you got into the contest late.

And that ends ASimWen's Internet Lover Challenge.  Mazikeen is 18 days to elder and is now free to do whatever she wants.  Yay!

What did I learn playing this challenge?  I really had no idea it was possible to do this using chat and email on the computer.  It was fun and informing.  I also noted that Mazikeen gained a mechanical skill point while pecking away on the computer.  Not sure why, but maybe because she had to repair it every day or so?  Only once did she get shocked, but her needs were full so I didn't lose her!
